Hello! I’m glad I found this! I was looking up this book because I just bought it today. Plus, it is actually being sold in the Spirit store for Halloween. I’m a bit surprised.

It is my sincere pleasure, dear Willow. Opinions can – and often will – vary when it comes to books and their respective merits, but just like yourself, I’m a firm believer in being honest, transparent and open when it comes to my take on a given title.

You hit the nail on the head. Interesting as this book is, its real-world applications in the 21st century are likely not as applicable for many of us the majority of spell related books on the market today.

That’s awsome regarding the book of ghost stories. I plan to dip into my copy again this October, too – as well as to reread Dracula. I was able to pick up a copy of it again (post-fire, I mean) earlier this year and can hardly wait to bite into it, if you will. 😁

Thank you very much, dear Ann. I would say that is a solid assessment of things. A fair number of the spells in this book could still be (safely) carried out, but the degree to which they’re best suited to 21st century life is debatable to say the least. And, as touched on in my post, there are some that are best left squarely in the past, IMO.

Still, that said, this book is a fascinating – if sometimes eyebrow-raising – read and one that, no two ways about it, has a properly gorgeous cover.

We’ve been two productive book culling peas in a pod this summer, sweet Shelia. I just took somewhere in the range of 40 – 50 books to a second-hand book shop in West Kelowna this past weekend (they pay in store credit, so I’ll definitely be returning to help refill some of my shelves 😄). Had this shop not taken my books, I was going to donate them as well. What a thoughtful idea to place them out for your neighbours. Love that!

Excellently put, sweet Donna (re: beautiful looking, but perhaps not strictly necessary for many 21st century magickal practitioners). I definitely agree with you there, though do understand why it would appeal to some folks either as more of a fascinating read alone or as an instructional spellbook (especially if a person leans more towards the arcane).

I’m grateful to have this book in my collection (the cover alone really is incredible!), but it certainly isn’t one I reach for on a regular basis.
