You’re absolutely right that considerably fewer people mail out holiday cards (or send snail mail at all) these days.

We generally post out considerably more cards than we receive ourselves. That’s totally okay, of course, and I do not expect people to reciprocate. If they want, that’s awesome. If not (or if circumstances do not permit them to at present), that’s 100% okay, too.

I love the act of sending heartfelt greetings and the joy that I hope my snail mail brings into others’ lives.

As a fellow cardmaker, I know you can relate and am sure that your own greetings brighten the days of all those who are fortunate to be on the receiving end of mail from you. 💌

I remember always saving those that I got for occasions such as Valentine’s Day and my birthday. I well recall one year when a beloved elderly neighbour gave my family a few mid-century Christmas cards that she’d held onto for decades. We put them out for a few years to come and I have doubt that they helped contribute to my lifelong love of both vintage illustrations and yesteryear greeting cards.

It’s beautiful that you found the cards you’d saved as a child and that you opted to save a few of them. I’m an extremely nostalgic person and am sure I’d do the same if I were to come across a stash of cards from my own youth.
