It is my absolute pleasure, Bracken. Thank you very much for your lovely comment. Should this book have piqued your interest, I cannot recommend it highly enough (and consider it to be amongst the best I have ever read on the fascinating subject of ghosts).

Wishing you a sunny, wonderful rest of the spring.

How right you are, dear Kate. I strongly feel that just as we have a pair of eyes on our face, so too does one reside deep within our souls and it is often with these that we are able to see beyond the ordinary and into the realm of the sacred.

Thank you very much for your wonderful comment and for sharing with me/us that angels are one of the otherworldly entities that resonate most closely with your soul. That is deeply beautiful.

I hope that spring did indeed stay put for you throughout the month. Though we managed to escape further snow, this May has been unseasonably cold. Not, mind you, that this point bothers me. Save for the ecological impacts, I adore the continued milder weather and know that any day now, the temperature tides will turn and we'll be baking like pies again in no time.

Many thanks again coupled with the happiest of wishes for a wonderful May-into-June, my sweet friend.

In reply to <a href="https://witchcraftedlife.com/book-review-the-ghost-a-cultural-history-by-susan-owens/#comment-35420">Sheila (of Ephemera)</a>.

You are immensely welcome, my sweet friend. I truly adore your blog and give it my fighting best to catch up on as much of your recent content as possible whenever I can.

Many a long year ago now, a (then) fellow vintage blogger described me doing so on her site as me "coming in waves". That has stuck with me ever since, as I feel it is an extremely apt way to describe how I most commonly leave comments across blogland.

I am all ears if you would ever like to share more about the spooky encounters you experienced while in Scotland (a country that I would give my favourite Halloween decoration to visit, let me tell you!).

Thank you for sharing about the fact that Logan is one of those souls that seems to naturally attract otherworldly happenings. Objectively, I would say that I am as well and firmly believe that I have witnessed ghosts firsthand on a number of occasions (starting in early childhood) throughout my life.

None of which, thankfully, have been particularly frightening or unnerving. If anything the spirits I have encountered just seemed grateful to be acknowledged, as though they could sense that I very clearly knew they were there and took some degree of comfort in that fact. And I, in turn, was/am profoundly grateful that they chose to make themselves known to me.

Thank you very much for your terrific comment and, likewise, for each and every one that you so thoughtfully leave for me throughout the year.

Thank you very much, dear Vicki. It is my absolute pleasure to share about this book here. It really is a top-notch look at the history and cultural significance of ghosts in the UK and stands out as one of the best books pertaining to the spirit realm that I have ever read.

Wouldn't it though? As I do personally believe in ghosts, I suspect they have been with us since the dawn of humanity. Naturally, though, we may never know just when, where, how, and why they became a part of our collective consciousness. And in a way, that added layer of mystery just makes phantoms all the more intriguing in my books.

Many thanks again, my friend. Wishing you a beautiful tail end of May.

Very well and wisely said, Carol. I completely agree that there is more to our world (to say nothing of the universe as a whole) that are not fully aware of. And, there may even be some elements that were thus far oblivious to entirely.

Personally, I adore this fact. There is much to be gained both from established fact and from faith in the unseen/mysterious forces that reside in tandem with us on this spinning rock we call home.

Thank you very much for your terrific comment - as well as for all those you have kindly left here for me this spring (they are deeply appreciated).

Sunny hugs,

Thank you abundantly, my tremendously kind friend. I had a blast styling and shooting these photos (fun fact, the white ghost figure here often resides on one of my altars throughout much of the year and when not there, is part of our living room decor) - which, as you might imagine, psyched me up for Halloween's return in a few months all the more.

I have been doing a fair bit of reading this year, so while I don't have any more ghost-related book reviews coming down the immediate pipeline, I am planning at least four more on various subjects between now and the end of December.

Thank you again, dearest Debi.

In reply to <a href="https://witchcraftedlife.com/book-review-the-ghost-a-cultural-history-by-susan-owens/#comment-35365">Celeste M Goff</a>.

Thank you very much on all counts, dear Celeste.

Interestingly, while spring did start to eke out from under the icy mantle of winter here around the start of April, May would prove to be chillier than usual.

Up until just a few days ago, most nights hovered (or dropped a touch below) freezing and as recently as last week, I was still seeing my breath when taking our dog out in the early to mid-morning.

Truth be told though, aside from the negative impact on the ecosystem that colder than usual ongoing spring temps can have, I am revelling in the continued cooler days.

They are a welcome respite from winter's biting chill and, likewise, a welcome breather before we are inundated with summer's stifling heat.

How awesome that you have been able to participate in various ghost-related going-ons in the States.

Though interstingly, my very first real job as a teenager was as a server at a restaurant in BC's best-known ghost town (Barkerville), I have never actually been on a guided ghost walk/tour of any kind.

The more I think about that point, the harder it is to believe - especially given my passion for cemeteries and graveyards. However, many of the locations I have lived in throughout my life did not offer anything of the sort, so that explains why in large part.

... Still, I look forward to the prospect of taking part in at least one or two such experiences sooner or later (likely blogging about them here if and when I do).

Many thanks again, my friend. May you have a sunny, peaceful, and very happy remainder of the spring.

You are immensely welcome, my very dear friend and fellow anglophile.

Thank you very much in turn for your splendidly sweet and supportive words.

Save for stopping at Heathrow Airport at various times en route to other destinations, I have yet to visit the UK.

Doing so is way up there on my bucket list (likewise finally seeing Tony's homeland of Italy) and when I do, I just know I will be planning a good chunk of our itinerary around cemeteries, graveyards, and historical sites - no doubt many of which will come with tales of onsite phantoms.

Thank you again, Ann. I hope that your spring is going as positively as it possibly can and that you have a relaxing, sunny, and very enjoyable June.

Thank you very much, my sweet friend. Books pertaining to the spirit world are ones that I lap up with gusto and can never get enough (though, to be fair, that same statement applies to many other subjects as well).

I really did enjoy this excellent look at the history and cultural significance of ghosts in the UK and could easily see myself rereading it again down the line (perhaps, for example, come a future October).

If books about ghosts tickle your fancy as well, I really do recommend giving this one a spin. It is, objectively, amongst the best books pertaining to the subject of phantoms that I have ever read.

Many thanks again,
